List of Holidays in Ecuador in 2023
The Ministry of Tourism shared the calendar of holidays established for the years 2023, 2024 and 2025, and thereby invited citizens and the tourism sector to plan their next tours of Ecuador.
The holidays for 2023 are:
- New Year’s Day: Sunday, January 1 is moved to Monday, January 2.
- Carnival: Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 February.
- Good Friday: Friday, April 7.
- Labor Day: Monday, May 1.
- Battle of Pichincha: Wednesday, May 24 is moved to Friday, May 26.
- First Cry of Independence: Thursday, August 10 is moved to Friday, August 11.
- Independence of Guayaquil: Monday, October 9.
- All Souls’ Day: Thursday, November 2.
- Independence of Cuenca: Friday, November 3.
- Christmas: Monday, December 25.
The calendar with the holidays of 2024 and 2025 can be reviewed by entering the website of the Ministry of Tourism.
These holidays correspond to the days of compulsory rest of a national nature and not recoverable, determined in the following regulations:

If You Lose Your Cedula
- You need to make a police report. This can be done online. https://appsj.funcionjudicial.gob.ec/documentosExtraviados/publico/formulario.jsf
- Make copies of your passport picture page, visa and hopefully you have one of the lost cedula
- Movimiento Migratorio (This is no longer required at all visa offices)

- Proof of health insurance
Apply for a new certificate. Some visa offices require an appointment. Others don’t.
Once you have the certificate you generally have 15 days to replace the cedula at the Registro Civil.
